PUNE: In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old man from Shikrapur in Pune district was allegedly strangled to death by two of his friends, who then dumped his body nearly 200 kilometres away in Beed district. Police have arrested both accused, and a probe is underway to determine the motive.
The victim has been identified as Abhishek Namdev Karkambe, a resident of Shikrapur.
How the Crime Unfolded
According to police, the two accused visited Karkambe’s house and took him out on the pretext of an outing. They allegedly strangled him during this trip and then transported the body in a four-wheeler to the Kanifnath Ghat area in Ashti tehsil, located on the Beed-Ahilyanagar highway — approximately 200 km from Pune.
The body was left in dense shrubs in an attempt to conceal it.
Discovery of the Body
The crime came to light after Karkambe’s father filed a missing person complaint when his son did not return home. During the investigation, police shared photographs of the deceased to identify him. The body was subsequently recovered and identified.
The two accused were traced and arrested.
