Pune Traffic Today:-Current Traffic Status
Pune Traffic Update – October 25, 2026
Pune is currently dealing with significant traffic congestion due to the pre-Diwali shopping rush. Here’s a clear summary of the situation:
Current Situation
- Central markets (Laxmi Road, Kumthekar Road, Kelkar Road, Budhwar Peth, Shanipar Chowk) have seen heavy jams, long vehicle queues, double parking, and no-entry violations.
- Major choke points include:
- Navale Bridge Chowk
- Wagholi Chowk
- Underpasses in Ravet, Punawale, and Tathawade (towards Hinjewadi)
- Some stretches that normally take 15–20 minutes are taking 60–90 minutes.
- Old Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway also reported queues (e.g., Bavdhan to Balewadi) in recent days.
As of late evening on October 25, monitoring sites show mostly smooth traffic on major corridors (Mundhwa, Hinjewadi, Navale Bridge etc.), as peak shopping hours have passed. Live monitoring typically resumes in the morning.
Official Measures
- Heavy vehicle ban: From October 25 until the end of Diwali, heavy vehicles (trucks, dumpers, mixers, trailers) are banned on Bajirao Road and Shivaji Road every Saturday and Sunday. This is to ease congestion in central market areas.
- Traffic police are using real-time Google traffic data to manage hotspots.
- Challans (fines) for violations have been resumed. Towing is still on hold pending a new contract.
- Ongoing metro construction (Swargate–Katraj) has temporary diversions near Market Yard, Bibvewadi, and Satara Road.
Tips for Commuters
- Avoid central markets during peak shopping hours if possible.
- Use public transport or carpool where feasible.
- Check live updates on Google Maps or dedicated Pune traffic apps before starting.
- Follow traffic police directions and respect no-entry/no-parking rules.
Expect continued pressure on roads until Diwali (November 8, 2026). Plan extra time for travel, especially on weekends. Stay safe!
